Cupra Raval 2026 Uncovered: 226 hp & 450 km from €25,995

The Cupra Raval has shed its camouflage on Scandinavian roads, confirming its launch scheduled for summer 2026. This first electric city car from the Spanish brand flexes its sporting ambitions with a VZ version packing 226 hp and promising up to 450 km of range starting from €25,995—enough to shake up the Alpine A290 and the upcoming Peugeot e-208 GTi.
"The fine-tuning phase is winding down and the Cupra Raval should be officially unveiled any day now" — Caradisiac, following latest sightings in Scandinavia
A City Car That Stands Out
Scoop hunters spotted it cruising Scandinavian roads: the Cupra Raval is now running without its usual prototype camouflage. A telltale sign that development is reaching the finish line before the official reveal in the coming weeks.
This Raval—named after the bohemian neighborhood in Barcelona—marks Cupra's entry into the electric city car segment. At 4 meters long with a generous 2.6-meter wheelbase, it promises a roomy interior despite its compact footprint.
What's Under the Hood?
The Raval offers two main powertrains. The base version serves up 210 hp (155 kW) paired with a maximum 450 km WLTP range. At the top, the VZ variant cranks it up to 226 hp with 290 Nm of torque, following the same playbook as the brand's other sporty models.
This VZ gets a chassis lowered by 15 mm and widened track by 10 mm compared to base versions. It rides on the new MEB+ platform from the Volkswagen group, shared with the upcoming ID.Polo and Skoda Epiq.
Taking On the EV Competition
The Cupra Raval VZ is gunning straight for the Alpine A290 and its 220 hp. But the fight's going to be brutal against beefier rivals: the Mini John Cooper Works with 258 hp, the Lancia Ypsilon HF, or the upcoming Peugeot e-208 GTi, all packing 280 hp.
Volkswagen is also readying its counterattack with an ID.Polo GTI sporting 226 hp and even considering a more radical R version. The Raval will need to bank on expressive styling and bang-for-buck value to carve out its niche.
What's the Starting Price?
Cupra has confirmed a starting price around €25,995 for the base Raval trim. The Dynamic and Dynamic Plus versions, equipped with the 210 hp engine and larger battery, will logically climb north of €30,000.
The VZ Extreme variant hasn't revealed its price yet, but it'll definitely sit at the top of the range. For comparison, the Alpine A290 starts at €38,700 and the Peugeot e-208 GTi should hover around €40,000.

When Will It Arrive?
Production kicks off at Martorell factory in Spain—the first electric model assembled at this historic Seat site. Deliveries are lined up for summer 2026, just a few months away.

This Raval marks a new chapter for Cupra, betting everything on electrics for its future compact lineup. It's a preview of more city cars from the Volkswagen group rolling out on the same technical foundation.
