The Cupra Tavascan receives a 2026 model year update with the arrival of a new entry-level version equipped with a 190 HP motor and a 58 kWh LFP battery. The Spanish electric SUV-coupé also gains an Android-based infotainment system and new practical features to appeal to a broader clientele.

A New Accessible Version to Broaden the Appeal

Cupra introduces a less powerful variant of its Tavascan for the 2026 model year. This new entry-level version features a 190 HP (140 kW) electric motor in rear-wheel drive, paired with a 58 kWh LFP (lithium-iron-phosphate) battery. The announced range reaches 435 km according to the WLTP cycle, figures that place this model in the middle of its segment.

This powertrain complements the two existing versions: the Endurance with 286 HP and rear-wheel drive, and the sporty VZ with 340 HP and all-wheel drive, both retaining the 77 kWh battery. The stated goal is clear: to offer a more attractive entry price for this SUV-coupé, which has been on sale since early 2024.

DC fast charging peaks at 135 kW, allowing a 10-80% charge in about 26 minutes under ideal conditions. Decent performance for daily use, even if it lags behind the higher-end versions.

💡 Did you know?
The LFP (lithium-iron-phosphate) technology used in this new battery offers a longer lifespan and better thermal stability than conventional lithium-ion batteries, while reducing production costs.

Android Arrives in the Cabin

The cabin of the Tavascan 2026 benefits from several welcome improvements. The digital instrument cluster grows to 10.25 inches and adopts a more modern interface. The steering wheel regains physical buttons, an evolution demanded by many customers tired of touch surfaces that require taking their eyes off the road.

The infotainment system switches to Android, opening access to a catalog of apps via an integrated store. This evolution comes with practical new features: smartphone inductive charging, front and rear USB-C ports compatible with 45 W fast charging, and a smartphone digital key for unlocking and starting the vehicle.

When Will It Be Available?

Production of the refreshed Cupra Tavascan begins in the coming weeks. The first deliveries are expected after the summer break, meaning September 2026. This launch will therefore occur nearly two years after the model's initial debut in Europe.

V2L and New Features

Among the technological novelties, the Tavascan 2026 is equipped with V2L (Vehicle to Load) functionality. This technology allows the battery's energy to be distributed to other electrical devices via an outlet in the cabin or an adapter on the charging port. A practical feature for powering camping equipment or assisting other vehicles.

One Pedal driving mode also makes its appearance, allowing acceleration and braking to be managed with just the accelerator pedal thanks to energy recuperation. The Sennheiser audio system benefits from improvements for better sound quality in the cabin.

💡 Key Figure
Since its launch, the Tavascan has benefited from significant discounts, its base price having dropped to 40,040 euros compared to nearly 50,000 euros initially.

A Pricing Strategy Yet to Be Clarified

Cupra has not yet communicated the price of this new entry-level version. Current prices range from 53,340 euros for the Endurance to 57,910 euros for the VZ, before any potential discounts. The arrival of this less powerful powertrain should allow for a significantly more accessible entry ticket.

This strategy aligns with Cupra's desire to democratize its electric offering in the face of increasingly dense competition in the electric SUV-coupé segment.
