2026 Cupra Born Facelift: 326 HP and 600 km Range
Cupra launches a facelifted Born with 326 horsepower and 600 kilometers of range. The Spanish electric compact modernizes with new triangular Matrix LED headlights, a more refined interior, and a powerful VZ version. Market launch scheduled for summer 2026.
"With 326 horsepower, the Born VZ becomes one of the most powerful electric compacts on the market" — Cupra
The Born adopts the brand's latest stylistic language with a more pronounced "shark nose" front end. The new triangular Matrix LED headlights create a more aggressive light signature, while the rear is distinguished by an illuminated Cupra logo integrated into a light bar. The redesigned air intake, divided into three sections, improves aerodynamics.
A More Technological and Better-Finished Interior
The interior benefits from a major overhaul with an instrument cluster screen that grows from 5.3 to 10.25 inches. The central 12.9-inch screen retains its dimensions but integrates a new infotainment system based on Android Automotive.
Perceived quality improves thanks to redesigned materials on the front and rear door panels. Cupra reintroduces physical buttons on the steering wheel after criticism of the touch-sensitive controls. A Sennheiser audio system makes its appearance, while ventilation and lighting are equipped with more practical physical controls.
Three Motor-Battery Configurations in the Lineup
The range expands with three different configurations:
- Born 59 kWh: 170 horsepower, 440 km of range
- Born 77 kWh: 231 horsepower, 600 km of range
- Born VZ: 326 horsepower, 545 Nm of torque, 5.6 seconds for 0-100 km/h

Facing Fierce Competition
The Born faces tough rivals in the electric compact segment. The Volkswagen ID.3, its technical cousin, multiplies promotions to attract buyers. Chinese manufacturers like BYD with the Dolphin or MG with the MG4 offer aggressive pricing.
The price of the Renault Mégane E-Tech starts around 35,000 euros, while the Peugeot ee-308](/article/peugeot-remplace-le-puretech-par-le-moteur-turbo-100-sur-208-et-2008) plays the French premium card. Cupra is betting on its sporty character and its 600 kilometers of range to stand out.
When Will It Be Available?
Production of the facelifted Born will begin in the second quarter of 2026 at the Zwickau factory in Germany. The first deliveries are scheduled for summer 2026. Cupra has not yet communicated the final prices.
The Spanish manufacturer hopes to maintain the Born's good commercial performance. In 2025, the model sold 43,700 units in Europe, confirming its status as a pillar of Cupra's electric range.
This evolution comes before the arrival of the Cupra Raval, the future electric city car expected in spring 2026. The facelifted Born must hold the fort while awaiting this new entry-level model.
