Xiaomi presented its Vision GT at MWC 2026 in Barcelona, a virtual electric hypercar developed for Gran Turismo 7. This supercar with 1,900 horsepower marks the Chinese tech giant's entry into the Vision Gran Turismo program, making Xiaomi the first tech company to join this exclusive project alongside historic manufacturers like Mercedes, Porsche and Bugatti.

"Creating a Vision GT is a dream journey for any automotive designer. It gives us the opportunity to rethink hypercar design from a technology company's perspective." — Tianyuan Li, Xiaomi EV Design Director

Xiaomi does nothing halfway. After selling more than 600,000 units of its SU7 sedan and launching the SUV YU7, the Chinese automaker is now tackling the Vision Gran Turismo program. This initiative by Polyphony Digital allows manufacturers to create dream cars without industrial constraints, purely for the Gran Turismo game.

The Vision GT thus becomes the 51st concept in the program and the first signed by a technology company. Xiaomi joins a very exclusive club featuring the world's biggest automotive names. A powerful symbol for a brand that has only existed in the automotive space since 2024.

💡 Did you know?
Xiaomi had already made waves by becoming the first Chinese manufacturer to integrate Gran Turismo with its SU7 Ultra in 2025.

An Aerodynamic Manifesto with Impressive Numbers

Li Tianyuan, the design chief at Xiaomi EV, conceived this hypercar as an aerodynamic laboratory. The numbers speak for themselves: a drag coefficient of 0.29 and an aerodynamic efficiency ratio of 4.1. For comparison, a McLaren P1 boasts a Cx of 0.34.

The bodywork adopts an ultra-pure water-droplet form. Every surface has been sculpted to channel airflow. The front splitter separates the airflow, with part gliding underneath the floor to keep the car planted, while the rest travels through the bodywork to the giant rear diffuser.

The wheels also hide clever tricks: their magnetic covers remain fixed as the car drives, reducing drag. Inside the transparent covers, turbine-shaped fins draw air to cool the brakes.

A Supercharged 900-Volt Electric Platform

Beneath the futuristic bodywork lies Xiaomi's 900-volt platform, based on silicon carbide components. This high-voltage architecture can theoretically support up to 1,900 horsepower in all-wheel drive, though Xiaomi remains tight-lipped about exact performance figures.

This tremendous power would place the Vision GT on par with the most extreme hypercars like the Rimac Nevera (1,914 hp) or the Lotus Evija (2,000 hp). Enough to rival the references in the genre, at least on paper and in the virtual realm.

💡 Technical point
The "Active Wake Control" system uses micro-perforations around the rear lights to detach turbulent air from the bodywork and improve efficiency.

A Prototype Cockpit Designed for Immersion

The interior adopts the codes of FIA World Endurance Championship race prototypes. The seats are integrated directly into the shell, forming a cocoon around occupants. The butterfly steering wheel evokes race cars, facing a panoramic screen that replaces conventional instrumentation.

Xiaomi is betting on artificial intelligence to adapt the car to the driver's mood. Sensors analyze the environment and driver behavior in real time. The system can even project a driving simulator based on the concept.

Will this Vision GT remain merely a digital style exercise? Not so fast. Historically, some Vision Gran Turismo concepts have inspired real production models. The Mercedes-AMG One shares its DNA with Mercedes' Vision GT, just as the Bugatti Chiron does with its Vision GT counterpart.
