**Less than two years after its launch, Xiaomi's automotive division has crossed the profitability threshold with an EBIT profit of €112.5 million in 2025. The Chinese automaker is betting on a refreshed version of its SU7 with up to 900 kilometers of range and a price increase of just 1.9%. **

"680 horsepower for an electric sedan sold for less than €35,000, that's unprecedented on the global market" — Xiaomi Motors, at the launch of the SU7 Max

Xiaomi's automotive gamble has paid off. In less than 24 months, the Chinese tech giant has gone from novice status to profitable automaker. With 411,082 vehicles sold in 2025, the group's car division generated 900 million yuan in profit, or about €112.5 million.

💡 Key Figure
Xiaomi reports a gross margin of 24.3% on its electric vehicles, ahead of Tesla (15.4%) and even BYD (17.6%), the global EV leader.

This performance stands in stark contrast to the struggles of many electric vehicle makers like Lucid or Rivian, which are still struggling to reach financial breakeven. Xiaomi is announcing an EBIT profit, meaning after deducting all costs including production, R&D, marketing, and depreciation.

A Refreshed SU7 Aiming Higher

The automaker is capitalizing on this success with an updated version of its SU7 sedan. This new iteration retains the DNA of the first generation while bringing significant improvements. The range climbs to over 900 kilometers according to the Chinese CLTC cycle for the Pro version.

On the design front, Xiaomi is taking a conservative approach. Three new colors make their debut: Coastal Blue, Blazing Red, and Viridian Green. The wheels evolve between 19 and 21 inches, while the front fascia gets a redesigned air intake. The overall look remains consistent with the established visual identity.

Enhanced Safety and Regulatory Compliance

The 2026 update focuses particularly on safety. Xiaomi integrates new door handles with external unlocking mechanisms, complying with new Chinese regulations that prohibit flush door handles. The number of airbags increases to nine units, up from six previously.

💡 Technical Point
The unlocking system features triple redundancy: electrical, mechanical, and manual emergency, guaranteeing door opening even in case of electrical failure.

The XiaoAi voice assistant becomes more sophisticated, integrating the brand's digital ecosystem. The cabin focuses on the "smart cockpit" with premium materials and spectacular ambient lighting. Xiaomi is pushing the smartphone-on-wheels concept.

Performance That Defies the Competition

Technically, the SU7 progresses on all fronts. The top-of-the-line version develops up to 690 horsepower, enabling supercar-like acceleration. The 900-volt architecture allows ultra-fast charging: 670 kilometers of range recovered in just 15 minutes according to manufacturer data.

The generous 3-meter wheelbase for a total length of 5 meters places the sedan in the large touring car category. Xiaomi is betting on comfort and interior space, areas where its tech engineers bring their expertise in digital ergonomics.

How Much Does This Evolution Cost?

Despite the improvements, Xiaomi maintains an aggressive pricing policy. The base price increases by only 1.9%, reaching 219,900 yuan or about €32,000. This strategy aims to consolidate market share against the Tesla Model 3 and Chinese manufacturers like BYD.
