"With over eight million units sold in 25 years, the X-Trail remains one of the most popular SUVs in the world" — Nissan France

A Quarter Century of Successful Evolution

Launched in October 2000, the X-Trail has marked Nissan's history with its versatility. The name perfectly evokes its philosophy: the "X" symbolizes the sporting spirit while "Trail" recalls rough paths. In France, it has recorded 107,250 registrations since its launch, a score that testifies to its popularity with families.

The first generation remains the best-selling on the French market. The vehicle quickly established itself on five continents, sold in 95 countries. In the United States, it takes the name Rogue and even becomes the brand's best-selling model.

💡 Did you know?
The X-Trail was initially inspired by the "Tough gear" concept, specifically targeting young families and outdoor activity enthusiasts.

The 2026 Updates: Design and Technology

The 2026 facelift brings measured but effective aesthetic tweaks. The grille adopts a new mesh pattern while retaining the characteristic "V" design of Nissan. Its contours widen to meet the headlights, giving the front more presence.

At the rear, the lights display a revised light signature and the bumper presents a new model. Two new shades enrich the color palette: Sable Miho and Blue Sukumo, also available in two-tone configuration. The N-Trek trim is distinguished by three chrome inserts on the hood edge and magma red accents on the front bumper.

The Cabin Modernizes with Google

The major evolution is inside with the new generation of the NissanConnect system. It now embeds Google tools: voice assistant, app downloads via the Play Store, and remote updates.

The 12.3-inch touchscreen comes standard from the N-Connecta trim, accompanied by tri-zone climate control, heated front and rear seats, and a heated steering wheel. The peripheral camera system offers a 3D panoramic view with eight selectable angles.

💡 Technical Point
The 40/20/40 sliding rear bench allows adjustment of space between passengers and cargo according to family needs.

e-Power Technology at the Heart of the Project

The X-Trail relies on its e-Power powertrain, an original hybrid system where the gasoline engine serves only to produce electricity. The car runs entirely on electric power without external charging, combining the advantages of electric with the range of a combustion engine.

This technology allows for silent driving in the city while maintaining extended range on the road. The system automatically adapts to driving conditions, optimizing energy efficiency as needed.

What Competition Does the X-Trail Face?

The X-Trail operates in a highly competitive segment against the Volkswagen Tiguan, the Peugeot 5008, and the Kia Sorento. Its e-Power powertrain gives it a unique positioning in a category where diesel remains popular.

According to Auto Express, the model is "an excellent family choice" but recommends avoiding the base trims. The British publication highlights the quality of the e-Power system while noting the boot could be more generous.

💡 Key Figure
The X-Trail is available in 95 countries, making it one of the most widespread SUVs globally.

Starting from What Price?

French prices have not yet been announced, but the UK market gives an indication. The X-Trail 2026 starts at £38,220 across the Channel, approximately €45,000. This estimate places the SUV in the upper range of the segment, justified by its hybrid powertrain and equipment.

The range is structured around three trims: Acenta, N-Connecta, and Tekna. The N-Trek version enriches the offer with its specific outdoor leisure equipment.

When Will It Be Available?

Orders are scheduled to open from April 2026 in Europe. First deliveries should take place during summer 2026. Nissan is banking on this facelift to maintain the X-Trail's commercial momentum against renewed competition.

The Japanese manufacturer has not yet revealed French prices, but these should be announced at the commercial launch in spring. This fourth facelifted generation
