The Nissan X-Trail is heading to the workshop for a facelift to celebrate 25 years on the road. Available to order from April 2026, this refresh modernizes the looks and equipment of the Japanese family SUV, while keeping its e-Power hybrid powertrain that's won over 285,000 buyers in Europe.

A More Adventurous Design

The 2026 X-Trail gets a redesigned front end with a wider, cleaner V-Motion grille. The designers reworked the front bumper with more pronounced, angular air intakes. The 19-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, glossy black wheel arches, and darkened lower body cladding reinforce its adventure-ready SUV character.

At the rear, new LED lights modernize the lighting signature. The bumper, now painted in body color, gets a glossy black lower section highlighted by a chrome strip. Two new colors join the palette: "Sukumo Blue" and "Miho Sand", available in two-tone configurations.

💡 Did You Know?
The X-Trail keeps its generous dimensions: 4.68 m long, 1.84 m wide, and 1.72 m high, allowing for 5 or 7 seats depending on the configuration.

The N-Trek Version Stands Out

The N-Trek trim pushes the rugged look with a grille adorned with three chrome openings and touches of Magma Red on the badges, wheels, and bumper inserts. The interior of this version benefits from a waterproof fabric suited for outdoor activities.

This specific version joins the existing "Acenta", "N-Connecta", and "Tekna" trims in the catalog. The differences remain subtle but targeted to strengthen the model's identity against rivals like the Peugeot 5008 or the Skoda Kodiaq.

Modernized Cabin with Built-in Google

The cabin keeps its architecture but gets new, more refined materials. The Tekna trim offers quilted leather upholstery in black or cognac, while the N-Connecta opts for TEP (Thermoplastic Elastomer) upholstery. Brown wood finishes adorn the center console.

The major evolution concerns the NissanConnect system with built-in Google. The 12.3-inch touchscreen comes standard from the N-Connecta trim, accompanied by tri-zone climate control, heated front and rear seats, and a heated steering wheel. The Google Assistant, app downloads via the Play Store, and over-the-air updates modernize the user experience.

💡 Tech Point
The surround camera system offers a 3D panoramic view with eight selectable angles to facilitate maneuvering and off-road driving.

e-Power Still on the Menu

Under the hood, no revolution. The X-Trail keeps its e-Power powertrain that's been a hit in the Qashqai. This unique hybrid system combines a 1.5-liter turbocharged 3-cylinder petrol engine with 158 hp that never drives the wheels, but instead charges the battery that powers the 204 hp electric motor for propulsion.

In the 4×4 "e-4orce" version, an additional 135 hp electric motor equips the rear axle for a combined output of 213 hp. CO2 emissions remain contained at 128 g/km for the 2WD and 141 g/km for the 4×4.

💡 Key Figure
With over 285,000 units sold in Europe since 2021, the X-Trail has established itself as a pillar of the hybrid family SUV segment.

When Will It Be Available?

Orders for the restyled Nissan X-Trail will open in April 2026. Prices have not yet been announced, but the current version starts around €44,650 in Acenta trim and can reach €47,000 in Tekna. Actual sales will begin in mid-2026 through the French Nissan network.

This update comes in a tense competitive context with the arrival of the new Dacia Bigster, updates to the Hyundai Santa Fe, and future electric newcomers in the segment. The X-Trail is betting on its unique hybrid setup and modularity to maintain its market share.
