The facelifted 2026 Nissan X-Trail gets a measured but effective refresh. The e-Power hybrid version becomes exclusive with 204 hp in front-wheel drive and 213 hp in 4WD, accompanied by the integrated Google system. Orders open in April with a starting price of €38,220.

"The X-Trail must be a functional crossover that adapts to every stage of life. Its design never sacrifices functionality, and functionality never compromises design" — Satoru Tanaka, Chief Product Specialist Nissan

Goodbye to the Small Combustion Engine

Nissan has decided to clean up the X-Trail lineup for its 2026 model year. Gone is the 1.5 turbo mild-hybrid with 163 hp that was the entry-level option. The family SUV now swears only by its e-Power technology, that series hybrid system that drives the vehicle solely on electric power while a combustion engine recharges the battery.

Two versions on the menu: 204 hp in front-wheel drive and 213 hp with all-wheel drive. This simplification comes mechanically with a rise in the entry price, which goes from €36,225 to €38,220 for the base version. An increase of nearly €2,000 that places the X-Trail in a more premium position against its rivals.

💡 Key Figure
With over 8 million units sold since 2001, the X-Trail celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2026.

The e-Power system promises a driving experience close to electric with the advantages of a combustion engine: no charging, unlimited range, and ease of use. Facing the Toyota RAV4 hybrid (218 hp) or the Peugeot 5008 Hybrid (136 hp), the X-Trail positions itself in the upper-middle range.

Discreet but Effective Aesthetic Touches

The exterior modifications remain restrained. The signature V-Motion grille widens and now touches the headlights, creating a more massive front end. The front and rear bumpers evolve subtly, while the rear lights adopt a new hook-shaped LED signature.

Two new colors join the range: Sukumo Blue and Miho Sand, available in two-tone configuration. The 19-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels complete the changes, accompanied by black elements on the wheel arches and mirrors.

The N-Trek trim makes its grand return with a more rugged look. Specific bumpers, chrome inserts, and red touches give this version a more adventurous character, in the spirit of a BMW xLine or a Ford Kuga Active.

Google Moves Onboard

The interior benefits from the biggest changes with the arrival of the new-generation NissanConnect system. Google comes onboard with the voice Assistant, Google Maps, and access to the Play Store to download apps. A long-awaited evolution that brings the X-Trail up to the level of its most recent competitors.

💡 Technical Point
The 360° camera system now offers 8 different viewing angles and can help see around blind spots at intersections.

The 12.3-inch touchscreen remains standard from the N-Connecta trim, as does tri-zone climate control and heated front and rear seats. Materials improve with quilted black or cognac leather upholstery on higher trims, and decorative brown wood inserts.

The 10-speaker Bose audio system and heated windshield equip the Tekna trim. The 40/20/40 sliding rear bench preserves modularity, an asset against a Skoda Kodiaq or a Volkswagen Tiguan.

Tight Competition in the French Market

In France, the X-Trail still struggles to emerge from the shadow of the Qashqai. With 3,071 units sold in 2025 (+41.3%), it remains far behind the 13,526 sales of its little brother over the same period. A gap explained by a more expensive positioning and a less defined image.
