DS N°7 2026: Premium EV SUV with 740km Range

DS is reinventing its bestseller with the DS N°7, which succeeds the DS 7 after eight years on the market. Bigger, more tech-savvy, and 100% electrified, this French premium SUV lands in October 2026 with up to 740 km of WLTP range to take on the Audi Q5 and BMW X3.
"The DS 7 represented 49% of our total sales. This N°7 really marks a new chapter for us." — Xavier Peugeot, CEO DS Automobiles
The DS 7 is taking its final bow. Launched in 2018, the family SUV that carried the French brand these past years is making way for the DS N°7, a new generation that promises to be far more ambitious. With only 4,749 units sold in France in 2025 (down 28.5%), the old model was showing its age against an increasingly fierce German rivalry.
An SUV That Grows to Rule
The new DS N°7 steps up with its 4.66 meters in length, 7 cm longer than its predecessor. The wheelbase stretches by 6 cm to hit 2.79 meters, which directly benefits interior space. Width stays at 1.90 meters while height holds steady at 1.63 meters.
This measured growth positions the DS N°7 at the boundary of the upper segment, between the Audi Q4 and Q5. The design evolves radically with tenser, cleaner lines inspired by the Aero Sport Lounge concept. Say goodbye to the baroque style of the DS 7—here comes a more mature silhouette that shares its DNA with the DS N°8.
The front end inherits the signature lighting from the DS N°8 with the DS Light Blade and the DS Luminascreen illuminated grille. Razor-thin headlights frame a wide glowing grille, available only on top-tier trims. Active vents built into the bumper optimize aerodynamics for a 0.26 drag coefficient.
Electrification: The Heart of Strategy
The DS N°7 marks a radical turning point: diesel is done. The lineup sits entirely on electrification with three full-electric E-Tense versions and a single thermal alternative.
The electric lineup breaks down into three power levels:
- 230 ch with 74 kWh battery for 543 km WLTP range
- 245 ch with 97 kWh battery for 740 km WLTP range
- 350 ch with all-wheel drive for 679 km WLTP range
That 740-kilometer range puts the DS N°7 among the segment's top contenders, handily beating the BMW iX3 (460 km) and Audi Q4 e-tron (520 km).
On the thermal side, just one powertrain survives: a three-cylinder 1.2 PureTech with 145 ch and 48V mild-hybrid tech. This lightweight hybrid option targets customers who regularly rack up long miles without needing to recharge.
From Mulhouse to Melfi: An Industrial Shift
The DS N°7 also marks an industrial revolution. Unlike the DS 7 built in Mulhouse, this new model will be manufactured at the Stellantis Melfi plant in Italy. This factory, specializing in the group's premium tier, already turns out the Jeep Compass and Fiat 500X.
This relocation comes with adoption of the STLA Medium platform, a multi-energy architecture shared with the new-generation Peugeot 3008 and 5008. This technical foundation allows electric, hybrid, and thermal powertrains to coexist on the same production line.
