Porsche Macan 2025: Electric, GTS, and Future ICE – Range Revamps

Porsche is in full transformation. The electric Macan is already on sale, a GTS version just launched, and prototypes of a future ICE Macan have been spotted disguised as an Audi Q5. Meanwhile, the Stuttgart brand is taking a 98% profit hit in 2025 and recalibrating its entire electrification strategy.

The Macan GTS: Three Legendary Letters for a Fully Electric SUV
It's a first in the model's history. The Macan GTS carries the acronym dating back to the 904 Carrera GTS from 1963 for the very first time. And this time, under the wheels, not a drop of fuel. The SUV is fully electric, with a specific design: black-painted details at the front, sides, and rear, along with tinted Matrix LED headlights. The look is sharper, more aggressive than the standard versions.
On the numbers side, the base electric Macan (rear-wheel drive, 340 hp, 563 Nm) hits 0-100 km/h in 5.7 seconds from a 100 kWh gross battery. The Macan 4 jumps to 408 hp with two motors, and on the Montlhéry circuit, the Alpine A390 GT with its three motors and 400 hp gave it a hard time—though the Porsche fares better on interior finishes and rear space (trunk of 540 dm³ vs 500 dm³ for the French car).

No Macan Turbo GT: Porsche Accepts the Range Ceiling
The question naturally arose after the success of the Taycan Turbo GT and its 1,034 hp in launch control with the Weissach pack. Why not a Macan Turbo GT? Porsche executives answered directly at the Macan GTS launch: "it doesn't make sense, because its price would put it in competition with the electric Cayenne," according to Motor1 Brasil.
So the Macan Turbo remains the range's peak with 639 hp. The electric Cayenne Turbo, meanwhile, delivers 1,156 hp in launch control. In between, the brand-new electric Cayenne S was just unveiled with 544 hp in normal use and 666 hp in Launch Control, a 0-100 km/h in 3.8 seconds, a top speed of 250 km/h, and 653 km of WLTP range thanks to a 113 kWh gross battery.
Under an Audi Q5 Skin: The Future ICE Macan Takes Shape
The spy shots don't lie. In early March 2026, Porsche testers were spotted driving what looked like an Audi Q5—but with noticeably wider wheel arches, a higher ground clearance, and a camouflaged body. According to Carscoops and CarBuzz, it's a mule for the next ICE Macan, based on the PPC platform from the Audi Q5.
Expected lineup: inline four-cylinders, V6s, and above all—a first for the Macan—plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrains. A reversal of the strategy that cost Porsche dearly: pulling the old ICE Macan from the market for cybersecurity non-compliance, without having the electric version ready to replace it. Porsche learned the hard way: you don't kill a model without a successor.
And here's the kicker: this new ICE Macan will coexist with the electric one, not replace it. Two platforms, two Macans, two philosophies. One for purists who still love the rumble of a combustion engine, the other for those ready to go electric. Porsche is playing both sides, and honestly, who can blame them?
What About the Price?
No official pricing yet for the new Macan GTS or the future ICE Macan. But expect the GTS to slot above the Macan 4 (around €85,000 in Europe) and below the Turbo (around €110,000). The ICE version, based on the Audi Q5 platform, should undercut the electric models to keep the entry-level Macan alive for traditionalists.
Bottom line: Porsche isn't abandoning combustion—it's just adding electric options. The Macan family is getting bigger, not smaller. Whether you're a die-hard ICE fan or an EV convert, there's a Macan with your name on it.
