Alfa Romeo is reopening orders for the Giulia and Stelvio Quadrifoglio in Europe from March 2026. The two Italian sports cars, launched in 2016, have their production extended until 2027 with their unchanged 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 producing 520 hp. The reason: their electric successors are delayed, and the brand is hitting the rewind button on its roadmap.

"We are reopening orders for the Giulia and Stelvio Quadrifoglio to keep the promise made to our customers who are most attentive to extreme performance and pure emotions that are part of Alfa Romeo's DNA." — Santo Ficili, CEO of Alfa Romeo, Brussels Motor Show 2026

Why They Disappeared from Catalogs

In September 2025, Alfa Romeo halted production of the Quadrifoglio. The next-generation models were supposed to arrive shortly after, fully electric. The new-generation Stelvio had even been spotted testing in near-final form. Then nothing.

Electric vehicle demand didn't follow projections, and Stellantis slammed the brakes on the entire strategy. The future Giulia and Stelvio will ultimately be "multi-energy" — which means restarting development from scratch, or close to it. Result: the launch of the new generations is pushed back to 2028. In the meantime, the current models are back in service.

On the sales front, the picture isn't rosy. According to Autoblog NL, 15 Giulia units were sold in the Netherlands in 2025 in standard versions, and zero Stelvio. This return of the Quadrifoglio isn't a sign of massive commercial success — it's a bet on a customer base of enthusiasts willing to pay a premium for what others no longer offer.

💡 Did you know?
The Quadrifoglio badge dates back to 1923, when driver Ugo Sivocci won the Targa Florio at the wheel of an Alfa Romeo adorned with a four-leaf clover as a good luck charm. Since then, this badge has marked the technical pinnacle of each generation of the brand.

520 hp and No Hybridization — By Design

The 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 hasn't changed its nature. It still delivers 520 hp and 600 Nm of torque, channeled through an 8-speed automatic transmission. On the Giulia, all power goes to the rear wheels — pure rear-wheel drive. On the Stelvio, the Q4 all-wheel-drive system distributes power to all four wheels.

The numbers: 0 to 100 km/h in under 4 seconds, top speed of 308 km/h for the sedan and 285 km/h for the SUV. No mild-hybrid system hastily grafted on to flatter the CO2 balance. According to Auto Bild, the engine was simply brought into compliance with current emissions standards — nothing else fundamentally changed.

The Akrapovič exhaust, carbon fiber on the Giulia's front splitter, 19-inch wheels for the sedan and 21-inch for the SUV, leather and Alcantara bucket seats: the equipment remains what we've known for years.

How Much Does It Cost?

In France, official prices haven't been published at the time of writing. However, Auto Bild gives prices for Germany, open from March 2026: the Giulia Quadrifoglio starts at €100,700, and the Stelvio Quadrifoglio at €108,800. The symbolic six-figure mark is thus crossed for both.

For France, the range should be comparable. Auto Journal states that French prices "are to be confirmed," but positioning shouldn't differ significantly from the German market.

It's expensive. But it's also half the price of a Porsche Panamera Turbo, and in the same segment as the BMW M3/M4 Competition or the Mercedes-AMG C63. Except the M3 abandoned its atmospheric inline-six for a hybridized four-cylinder — something purists haven't forgiven. And the C63 now runs a plug-in four-cylinder. The Alfa V6 is an endangered species.
