2027 Chevy Corvette Grand Sport: 535 HP 6.7L V8 LS6 Revealed

The Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport is back for 2027 with an all-new 6.7-liter V8 dubbed the LS6, cranking out 535 horsepower and 705 Nm in its rear-wheel-drive guise. Officially unveiled on March 26, 2026 — after a first peek at the 12 Hours of Sebring — it slots between the Stingray and the Z06, and borrows the latter's wider bodywork.
"The Grand Sport LS6 boasts a 13.0:1 compression ratio, a tunnel-ram intake, and a larger throttle body — making those 535 horses far more usable than raw spec-sheet numbers." — Car and Driver
A New Engine for a Returning Legend
The Grand Sport name carries some serious weight. Back in 1963, Zora Arkus-Duntov wanted to smoke the Shelby Cobra in competition. His team built five race cars before GM pulled the plug with its internal racing ban. Those five cars still fetch insane sums at auction today. Since then, the badge has popped up on the C4 (1996), C6, and C7 — but never on the C8. That changes now.
The new LS6 displaces 6.7 liters, half a liter more than the Stingray's 6.2L LT2. That bump comes from a longer piston stroke. Chevy calls it a "hardware focused on delivering usable power" architecture — translation: not some peaky race motor that's a pain daily, but a block that pulls hard from low revs. Compression ratio climbs to 13.0:1, and the tunnel-ram intake with its high-velocity ports is supposed to fill the cylinders more efficiently. Mated to an 8-speed dual-clutch gearbox, the whole shebang sends power exclusively to the rear wheels.
📋 Fiche technique
The Grand Sport X: 721 Horses with Electric Help
Chevy isn't stopping there. Alongside the standard rear-drive Grand Sport, a second model enters the fray: the Grand Sport X. It borrows lessons from the ZR1X — the AWD version of the ZR1 — to pair the LS6 with a hybrid all-wheel-drive system. Total power output climbs to 721 horsepower. We don't know the exact electric contribution yet, but the final number is there, black on white.
It's the same recipe as the ZR1X but in a theoretically more affordable and less extreme package than the ZR1. On paper, the Grand Sport X becomes the most accessible AWD model in the C8 Corvette lineup — which is still relative when you're talking about a high-end American sports car.
The Z06's Body, a New Engine's Heart
What Does It Look Like?
The Grand Sport inherits the Z06's wider bodywork — the fender flares, wider tracks, bigger tires. According to Road & Track, it also gets the upgraded suspension and beefier brakes from the track-oriented models. Chevy offers an optional carbon fiber aero package and carbon-ceramic brakes. In other words, visually and dynamically, it's much closer to the Z06 than the entry-level Stingray — even if the engine and price land in between.
For reference, Car and Driver notes that the Stingray Z51 — with its 495 horsepower and 637 Nm from the 6.2L LT2 — does 0-60 mph in 2.8 seconds in their tests. The Grand Sport with 40 extra horses and 68 more Nm in a Z06 chassis... you'd reasonably expect to dip under 3.0 seconds to 60 mph. Chevy hasn't given an official number yet.
