Mercedes reveals a comprehensive facelift for the 2026 Maybach S-Class and confirms the upcoming arrival of an ultra-luxury VLS minivan. The sedan abandons its V12 in Europe in favor of a 604 HP V8, while retaining this legendary engine in markets like the United States. A Facelift That Changes Everything

The 2026 Mercedes-Maybach S-Class benefits from one of the most profound facelifts in the brand's history. Over 50% of components have been revised or developed specifically for this update. The exterior is immediately distinguished by its new grille, 20% larger, with a luminous surround and a backlit Maybach logo.

The Mercedes star on the hood now illuminates, while the new Digital Light headlights with micro-LED twin-star technology provide up to 40% more illumination. On the sides, projectors integrated into the side skirts project the Maybach logo onto the ground. Two new wheel designs join the catalog: multi-spoke forged 20-inch wheels and diamond-cut lightweight alloy 19-inch wheels.

V12 Preserved, But Not Everywhere

The powertrain is the most controversial point of this facelift. In Europe, the Mercedes-Maybach S580 abandons the legendary V12 in favor of a new 604 HP biturbo V8. This decision is explained by increasingly strict European emissions standards.

Fortunately for purists, the V12 survives in other markets like the United States. The plug-in hybrid S580e version sees its power increase to 577 HP with a significantly improved electric range. All powertrains, including diesel, are now electrified.

The Cabin Becomes a Digital Lounge

The interior adopts the triple-screen configuration of the facelifted S-Class: a 14.4-inch touchscreen, a 12.3-inch passenger screen, and a 12.3-inch instrument cluster. In the rear, two 13.1-inch tablets allow control of multimedia, climate, and electric sunshades.

The new interior color "Beech Brown" joins the catalog, accompanied by a leather-free Storm Grey/Black option combining artificial leather with fabric made from recycled linen and polyester. The Exclusive Manufaktur program offers near-infinite customization.

Starting From What Price?

Prices for the new Maybach S-Class start at around 200,000 euros for the base version. This price can quickly climb with Manufaktur options and exclusive equipment. Orders have been open since March 25, 2026.

The VLS Minivan in Preparation

Mercedes-Maybach is also preparing a revolution with the VLS, an ultra-luxury minivan based on the Vision V concept. This high-end version of the VLE positions itself as an "exclusive lounge on wheels" with two wide bucket seats in the rear compartment.

The VLS is expected to be launched first with an electric powertrain, with gasoline engines added later. Unlike the family-oriented VLE, the VLS targets an ultra-wealthy clientele seeking absolute exclusivity.

When Will It Be Available?

The facelifted Mercedes-Maybach S-Class is already available to order, with first deliveries scheduled for the second half of 2026. The VLS should arrive later, likely by the end of 2027, after the launch of the VLE in the United States.

Facing the Competition

This 2026 Maybach S-Class directly targets the Rolls-Royce Ghost and Bentley Flying Spur. With its MB.OS artificial intelligence technologies and Level 4 autonomous driving, it attempts to modernize traditional British luxury.
