Stellantis to Produce Leapmotor B10 in Spain from 2026

Stellantis will launch production of the Leapmotor B10 at its Figueruelas plant near Zaragoza starting in the second half of 2026. The Chinese compact SUV will be the brand's first model assembled in Europe, marking a crucial milestone in the Franco-Italian group's strategy to sidestep tariffs on electric vehicles imported from China.
"We are continuing our commercial expansion in Europe, not only with additional products, but also with local production at our Spanish facility" — Antonio Filosa, Stellantis CEO
European Production to Bypass Tariffs
Stellantis new chief executive, Antonio Filosa, confirmed these plans during the group's financial results presentation. This decision comes as the manufacturer grapples with losses exceeding 20 billion dollars last year following a reassessment of its electrification strategy.
Spanish production will allow Stellantis to circumvent European tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles, which can exceed 30%. A non-negligible economic advantage for a model currently priced from 29,990 euros in Germany.
Local Supply Chain Taking Shape
Adapting the Figueruelas plant requires substantial investment. According to Spanish press reports, Stellantis is modifying production line 2 to accommodate the B10 platform, which is slightly wider than the Opel Corsa, Peugeot 208 and Lancia Ypsilon currently assembled on site.
To secure supply, the Lieder Automotive joint venture—a partnership between Chinese Duoli Technology and Spanish Fagor Ederlan—will begin chassis production in July 2026. This company will supply components to the neighboring plant, creating a genuine local production ecosystem.
Four Leapmotor Models Planned by 2027
The B10 will be merely the first in a lineup. Ding Yongfei, Leapmotor's global quality director, announced last December that three additional models will follow by 2027: the B05 (compact competitor), the B03X (called A10 in China), and the A05.
📋 Fiche technique
Initial production is expected to reach 40,000 units the first year for the B10 alone, with Leapmotor management anticipating rapid doubling. Eventually, the plant could assemble up to 200,000 Leapmotor vehicles annually.

What Competition for European Benchmarks?
With its 4.52-meter length and 2.735-meter wheelbase, the B10 directly targets the family electric SUV segment. Its 430-liter cargo hold (expandable to 1,700 liters) and spaciousness position it against the Renault Scénic E-Tech and Škoda Elroq.
The B10 offers two battery configurations: 56.2 kWh for 361 km range or 67.1 kWh for 434 km. Fast charging reaches 140 to 168 kW depending on the version, enabling 30 to 80% charge in 20 minutes.
A Cost Rationalization Strategy
This Spanish production reflects difficult circumstances for Stellantis. The group was forced to cancel several North American projects, including the Ram 1500 electric and Jeep plug-in hybrid variants. In Europe, conditions appear more stable, with Opel and Peugeot maintaining their electric positions.
Spanish press even suggests the possibility of leveraging Leapmotor's technical platform for future models from Stellantis' European brands—an approach that could significantly reduce development costs.

When Will European B10s Arrive?
Production will commence in the second half of 2026, with commercialization expected shortly thereafter.
