Peugeot 3008 and 5008 Recall: 33 Vehicles Affected

Peugeot has launched a recall campaign for 33 units of the new 3008 and 5008 over wheel nuts that were insufficiently tightened. Meanwhile, the brand is enjoying notable success with its SUVs, which are boosting French production to reach 1.45 million units in 2025.
"The risk is of course that these studs loosen completely and the wheel continues on its own… An accident would then be inevitable" — Caradisiac
A Minor but Serious Recall
News of this recall has been circulating through Peugeot workshops for several days. Certain owners of the new generation 3008 and 5008 must urgently visit their dealer. The issue: wheel nuts that were poorly tightened during assembly at the factory. The affected 3008 models were assembled between November 19, 2024 and June 13, 2025, while the 5008 units rolled off the line between November 14, 2024 and May 12, 2025.
Fortunately, this campaign affects only 33 vehicles in total. A negligible figure compared to the hundreds of thousands of units produced, but it illustrates the manufacturers' proactive approach whenever a safety risk emerges.
Procedure for Affected Owners
The service simply involves verifying that the wheels are properly tightened. Before receiving an official letter, owners can contact a dealer directly with their vehicle identification number (item E on their registration document). In the meantime, a visual inspection can confirm that all nuts are present—there are 5 on each wheel.
At the slightest suspicious noise or abnormal vibration, immediate stopping is necessary along with a call to roadside assistance.
Industrial Success That Compensates
This confidential recall campaign comes at a much more positive time for Peugeot. The new 3008 and 5008 are performing exceptionally well and boosting French production. The Sochaux plant has thus jumped to 229,800 units produced in 2025, an increase of 80,000 units compared to the previous year.
Success is such that the Franche-Comté site with 6,000 employees is now operating in two shifts plus a half night shift—unprecedented in recent years for this historic factory of the lion brand.
How Much Does the New 3008 Cost?
The Peugeot 3008 starts at €40,705 in Allure trim with the hybrid 145 hp engine. Electric e-3008 versions are priced from €49,050, while plug-in hybrids begin at €45,900. An aggressive pricing strategy that partially explains the commercial success.
Stellantis recently announced a promotion on the e-3008, which temporarily drops below €36,000 thanks to various cumulative government incentives—an offer valid only until January 31, 2026.
The Ripple Effect on French Industry
This surge in Peugeot SUV production benefits the entire French automotive industry. Overall production progressed by nearly 120,000 units last year to 1.45 million units across all manufacturers operating in France. Stellantis is leading the charge with 661,900 vehicles produced in the country, a gain of over 90,000 units.
The Hordain utility vehicle plant in northern France is also benefiting from this momentum, with an increase of 40,000 units to 150,200 vehicles assembled, largely thanks to production transfers from the now-closed Luton facility in the UK.
Challenges of European Competition
Despite these positive figures, French production remains well below pre-Covid standards. The 1.45 million units from 2025 still fall short of historical levels, reflecting the ongoing challenges facing the European automotive sector.
