Citroën ë-C3 Aircross Under €20k: Family EV SUV Revolution

The Citroën ë-C3 Aircross dips below the €20,000 mark in 2026. This unprecedented price offensive democratizes access to family electric SUVs, with a 4.39-meter vehicle offered at €19,990 after CEE grants.
"Two years ago, announcing an electric SUV under €20,000 was either marketing fantasy or optimistic concept-car talk." — Actu-automobile.com
A pricing strategy that upends the market
Citroën hits hard with this announcement, positioning its ë-C3 Aircross as the pioneer in accessible family electric SUVs. The French manufacturer abandons the premium race to focus on one clear objective: make electric vehicles accessible to the masses.
This price cut results from a two-pronged approach: Citroën shaves €1,710 off the original list price of €27,400, bringing it down to €25,690. Add the CEE grant—which can reach €5,700 depending on income—and you hit that €19,990 floor price.
The move targets Dacia directly, until now the only player in cheap electric vehicles. But while the Spring maxes out as a city car, Citroën delivers a proper family SUV at 4.39 meters with five seats.
The small battery makes a comeback
What real-world range can you expect?
To hit this price, Citroën resurrects the 44 kWh LFP battery that vanished from the lineup. This "Urban Range" version delivers 300 kilometers of range on the WLTP cycle—that's 230 kilometers in real summer driving and 150 kilometers in winter with freezing temps.
The numbers might sound tight, but they align with what most drivers actually need. The majority of daily commutes sit under 50 kilometers. So this battery makes sense for families hunting a second electric vehicle or those whose driving stays mainly suburban.
The electric motor delivers 113 horsepower (83 kW) and ensures smooth driving, though performance stays modest with 0-100 km/h in over 12 seconds.
Base-spec equipment that's honest, not cheap
The You trim that qualifies for this entry price makes a few sacrifices. No central touchscreen: you'll rely on your smartphone for navigation and media. But the standard gear remains decent—cruise control, rear radars, and climate control included.

The cabin prioritizes practicality. The trunk offers 460 liters in standard config, extending to 1,600 liters with the rear seat folded. Shoulder room measures 1,408 mm up front and 1,391 mm in back—enough for genuine comfort for five adults.
Rivals feel the pressure
This offensive puts heat on competitors. The Dacia Duster with a gas engine—the segment benchmark—starts at €22,300 with the 120 Eco-G motor. Even the Opel Frontera, the C3 Aircross's technical cousin, costs more despite recent discounts.
On the electric side, competition thins out fast. The BYD Dolphin Surf overshoots €20,000 and only seats four. The much-hyped Renault 5 electric will play in a pricier ballpark.
When can you actually get one?
Orders open now, with deliveries expected in early 2026. Citroën is betting this price blitz closes the gap it lost on the EV market after the rough 2024 launch of its range.

The manufacturer learned from the software gremlins that plagued initial deliveries. Current vehicles have gotten the necessary updates and no longer suffer from those early-stage hiccups.
This strategy fits a bigger picture where Stellantis pushes harder on EV transition in Europe. With this C3 Aircross under €20,000, Citroën has genuine ammunition against the Chinese brand invasion promising cheap electric vehicles. The fight for affordable EVs is just getting started.
