Toyota bZ Woodland 2026: 375-hp Electric SUV Revealed

Toyota unveils the bZ Woodland 2026, a bolder variant of its electric SUV. With 375 horsepower, standard all-wheel drive, and 215 mm ground clearance, this model positions itself as a credible off-road alternative to the Hyundai IONIQ 5 and Kia EV9. Starting price: $59,900.

An Electric SUV That Embraces Adventure
The bZ Woodland 2026 marks a turning point in Toyota's electric strategy. Gone are the days of timid EVs: this new SUV makes its intentions crystal clear with 375 horsepower split across dual electric motors and standard all-wheel drive.
The difference from the bZ4X is immediately apparent. The Woodland adopts a more rugged stance with black plastic cladding around the wheel arches, a more aggressive front bumper, and most importantly a 215 mm ground clearance. Those 14 extra centimeters compared to the standard model completely change the game for off-road adventures.
A Tech Sheet That Impresses
Beneath the bodywork, Toyota installed a 67 kWh battery promising up to 452 km WLTP range. This drops to 418 km with optional all-terrain tires, but remains respectable for the segment. The 0-100 km/h sprint completes in 4.4 seconds—performance worthy of a gas-powered sport SUV.
The towing capacity deserves attention: 3,500 pounds (approximately 1,600 kg), a rare figure in the EV market. Enough to pull a trailer or boat without breaking a sweat, unlike most competitors capping out at 1,000 kg.
What's the Price Tag?
The bZ Woodland 2026 starts at $59,900 (roughly €56,000), a premium positioning Toyota isn't apologizing for. The top-tier Premium trim exceeds $70,000 after taxes, adding ventilated seats, a panoramic roof, and a 9-speaker JBL audio system.
This pricing puts it head-to-head with the Hyundai IONIQ 5 and Ford Mustang Mach-E, two segment benchmarks with proven track records. The difference? Toyota banks on reliability reputation and enhanced off-road credentials.
An Interior Built for Adventure
The cabin prioritizes practicality with a 14-inch central screen handling most functions. Ergonomics stay straightforward, Toyota-style, with physical buttons for climate and audio—a welcome touch when wearing gloves.
Heated front and rear outboard seats come standard, as does a heated steering wheel. Four USB-C ports and two wireless chargers round out the connectivity. Cargo volume reaches 2,120 liters with the rear bench folded—addressing a traditional EV SUV weakness.
Will It Come to Europe?
Toyota hasn't confirmed a European launch for the bZ Woodland yet. The model targets the North American market for now, with first deliveries expected spring 2026.
In Europe, Toyota currently favors the bZ4X Touring, an extended version of the standard electric SUV. This "Woodland" variant could eventually cross the Atlantic if demand materializes, especially against adventure-focused rivals like the Mercedes EQC 4x4².
Charging in the Tesla Era
Toyota finally adopts Tesla's NACS standard, unlocking Supercharger access. With an 11 kW onboard charger and 150 kW DC fast-charging, the bZ Woodland goes 10-80% in roughly 30 minutes under ideal conditions.
The Plug & Charge system simplifies billing—just plug in, the car handles the rest. A 120/240V domestic cable is included for home charging on a dedicated outlet.
A Positioning That Makes Sense
This bZ Woodland arrives at precisely the right moment in a market demanding truly versatile electric SUVs. With permanent all-wheel drive, generous ground clearance,
