The Renault Clio 6 arrives in 2026 with a starting price of €19,000 in Evolution trim—that's €180/month on a lease—and a full hybrid E-Tech powertrain pushing 160 hp on the punchier versions. With the Clio 5 still on sale with end-of-line deals, the choice isn't as straightforward as it looks.

What You Get for €19,000—or €180/Month

The entry-level version runs a turbocharged 3-cylinder petrol mated to a 6-speed manual. Renault claims 5 L/100 km on the WLTP combined cycle, with a CO2 penalty of €190 (114 g/km). Nothing to scare you off.

Equipment-wise, the Evolution trim serves up full LED headlights, 16-inch wheels with two-tone hubcaps, a shark-fin antenna, and black arch protectors. The base color, a metallic Absolute Green, is free. That's already posher than you'd expect at this price point.

The €180/month lease requires a €2,500 down payment for a 3-year, 30,000 km contract. Total cost over 36 months hits €8,974.60, per Caradisiac. If you drive more, bumping to 45,000 km pushes the monthly to €192. Still competitive. But watch out: death/disability insurance and financial loss coverage aren't included—and on a lease, skipping the latter is playing with fire if the car gets nicked or crashed.

💡 Did you know?
The Clio 6 stretches about 7 cm longer than the Clio 5 (from 4.05 m to 4.12 m), but according to Autoplus measurements, this extra length mostly benefits the styling. You barely gain any interior space.

The E-Tech Hybrid: Is It Really Worth €23,900?

The Clio E-Tech 145 starts at €23,900. The 1.6-litre engine delivers 145 hp combined, the automatic gearbox is standard, and Renault claims 3.9 L/100 km homologated. The new generation even hits 160 hp on certain trims.

The E-Tech principle is a full hybrid with no plug-in. In plain English: no cable, no hassle. The electric motor takes over at low speeds, in traffic jams, through 30 km/h zones. That's where the fuel-saving magic really happens—every time you restart from a standstill, a conventional petrol burns fuel, while the E-Tech recovers energy.

Outside town, on the highway or open road, the advantage shrinks. The Clio E-Tech isn't a sporty car—nobody ever claimed it was—but with 145 hp and an auto box, it merges without hesitation, overtakes without second-guessing, and climbs onto fast roads without any cabin anxiety.

Clio 5 vs Clio 6: The Real Comparison Before You Sign

The Clio 5 is still on the market in 2025-2026, with end-of-series deals. And here, the math really deserves a closer look.

Visually, the break is clear. The Clio 6 has a more aggressive front end, a sleeker silhouette. But inside, the real difference is there: two big screens cribbed from what you see in recent Renault EVs. On a Clio 5, the dashboard is aging. Not embarrassing, but it shows.

On powertrains, the Clio 5 still holds a real advantage: it still offers the diesel block, LPG, and a broader petrol range. The Clio Eco-G (bi-fuel LPG) at €16,690 on remaining stock is worth a look if you do high mileage—100 hp, 340-litre boot, Crit'Air 1 sticker. A running-cost equation that makes you think, according to Passionandcar.

The hybrid, meanwhile, jumps from 145 hp on the Clio 5 to 160 hp on the Clio 6. The gap isn't huge, but combined with the new cabin and upgraded connectivity, it can justify the premium for certain profiles.

Which Clio to Choose Based on Your Driving?

If you're a city dweller doing between 8,000 and 12,000 km a year, the Clio 6 E-Tech at €23,900 makes sense. The full hybrid system cuts the petrol engine regularly in town, the auto box simplifies traffic jams, and the 3.9 L/100 km claim isn't greenwashing in urban use.
