Dacia has just unveiled its strategic "futuREady" roadmap: four new electric models by 2030, a family SUV for under £22,000, and a facelifted Sandero that remains 100% combustion-powered for now. The Romanian brand, already France's sales leader with 64,400 Sanders sold in 2025, is accelerating into the C-segment while preparing the electrification of its best-seller for 2027.

"For the next generation of Sandero, we have designed a multi-energy powertrain range, with a typically Dacia design. It will remain the champion of value for money." — Katrin Adt, CEO Dacia

The Sandero Stays the Cash Cow, But Gets a New Skin

64,400 Sanders sold in France in 2025. That's about 7,000 more units than the Citroën C3, and only the Renault Clio and the Peugeot 208 did better, according to Autoplus. On a European scale, it was the sales leader for two consecutive years, in 2024 and 2025 — before the Clio regained the lead in January 2026 with 14,660 registrations in that month alone, according to Data Force data published by Automotive News.

The Sandero has therefore received a mid-life facelift, already available at dealerships. This update brings design tweaks, new equipment, and some mechanical evolutions. What it doesn't change: zero electrification for now. The version at dealerships remains exclusively with petrol and bifuel LPG (Eco-G) powertrains. Dacia stands by this choice — hybrid is coming, but later.

💡 Key Figure
In Germany, the Sandero is the cheapest new car on the market, listed from 12,790 euros. Through certain professional leasing structures, it drops to 67 euros net per month over 24 months.

The entry price in France remains consistent with the brand's DNA. In the 2026 TÜV Report, the third generation (since 2021) fares better than its predecessors, even though Auto Bild reports noisy transmissions, questionable turbos, and two recent recalls — hoods opening while driving and faulty fuel lines. Nothing to ignore during service.

Electric Sandero: See You in 2027

When is the 100% Electric Sandero Arriving?

The current generation will never get a plug. The fourth generation, whose unveiling is scheduled for 2027, will be the first to offer a 100% electric variant, according to the futuREady plan. Until then, a hybrid version will arrive this year on the current Sandero — a first for the model.

The major technical question, raised by Auto Express, concerns the architecture. Will the Sandero EV use the current electrified CMF-B platform, or will it switch to the AmpR Small platform of the Renault 5? The two share about 70% common parts, but adopting two different architectures for the same model complicates production and proportions. Katrin Adt confirmed a "multi-energy" approach: the future Sandero will coexist with hybrid, LPG, and electric versions within the same range.

💡 Did You Know?
The next Dacia urban electric car — the spiritual successor to the Spring — was developed in just 16 months, co-developed between China and Europe on the RGEV platform (a variant of AmpR Small). It will be manufactured in Novo Mesto, Slovenia.

The futuREady plan includes four electric vehicles in the Dacia range by 2030. The first arrives in the second half of 2026: a sub-4-meter SUV city car, positioned under €18,000 (approximately $21,000), which will effectively replace the Spring while coexisting with it in some markets according to Carscoops. It is based on the RGEV platform — the same as the Renault Twingo E-Tech — with a battery expected around 27 kWh for an approximate range of 240 km.

Next will come the Sandero EV in 2027, followed by two other yet-to-be-named electric models. The goal: for electrified models (hybrids + pure electric) to represent two-thirds of Dacia sales by 2030. Today, the only true electric in the range is the Spring, manufactured in China.
