Dacia is preparing an unprecedented offensive: following the success of the Bigster, the brand unveils the Striker (a raised hybrid estate presented on March 10, 2026), announces four new electric vehicles by 2030 including a city car under €18,000, and sees its SUV transformed into an overland camper for less than €35,000 — taking on the Volkswagen California.

The Striker, Dacia's Second C-Segment Model

Presented during the Renault Group's futuREady conference on March 10, 2026, the Dacia Striker is a family crossover measuring 4.62 meters in length — 7 cm longer than the Jogger. The brand describes it as a model that "combines the dynamism of an estate, the practicality of a spacious saloon, and the ground clearance of an SUV." In concrete terms, it's a raised estate with a sloping rear roofline, T-shaped headlights, and a sculpted body. The designers have clearly made an effort, which is no small thing.

This model follows the strategic plan launched in 2021 under Luca de Meo, of which the Bigster was the centerpiece. Since then, the Bigster has become the best-selling C-segment SUV to private customers in Europe in the second half of 2025 — a performance that fully justifies the arrival of a second model in this segment. The Striker is particularly targeting corporate fleets, a market where Dacia has historically had little presence.

Hybrid availability is confirmed. Official pricing has not yet been announced, but Dacia's logic implies a positioning below equivalent Renault or Volkswagen models.

In 2025, Dacia sold 65,788 vehicles in Spain, an increase of 20.10% compared to 2024. The Sandero alone exceeded 38,000 units in this market, making it the best-selling model in the country.

How much will the future Dacia electric city car cost?

The brand has officially confirmed a starting price below €18,000 (approximately £15,600 according to Autocar UK), without subsidies or discounts. This urban model, a technical twin of the new Renault Twingo, will use the Renault Group's AmpR Small platform — an architecture dedicated to small electric vehicles. It will be slightly larger and wider than the current Spring, with a design that borrows more heavily from Dacia SUVs. Its unveiling is expected this year, with a debut at the Paris Motor Show in October.

Patrice Lévy-Bencheton, Dacia's product manager, told Autocar that this city car and the Spring "are still quite different" — the two models will therefore coexist in the lineup, at least initially. The battery should be around 27.5 kWh for a range of just over 160 miles (approximately 260 km), according to the technical data of the Twingo on which it is based.

Three other EVs will follow by 2030. One of them will be the next generation of the Sandero, which will adopt a "multi-energy range" including an electric version. This next Sandero will be based on Renault's CMF-B platform, compatible with petrol, hybrid, and electric powertrains.

💡 Le saviez-vous ?
The name "Sandman" — a Dacia camper concept based on a Renault Trafic — was invented by Autocar UK magazine. The brand never had a concrete project of this type, but the article generated so much interest that, according to Dacia, "it became a famous anecdote internally."

The Bigster as a Camper: A Credible Alternative to the California?

The Volkswagen California remains the benchmark for camper vans: in 2025, despite a decline of -22.50% with 1,032 units registered in France (due to the transition from the T6.1 to the new Transporter), it still dominates the segment. But its price places it out of reach for a large portion of buyers.

This is where an idea that has been circulating for a few months in the overland community comes in: transform a Dacia Bigster into a micro camper. The result? A total budget that can stay under €35,000 according to Autoplus, compared to much more for an entry-level California.

The foundation is solid. The Bigster measures 4.60 m, offers up to 1,800 liters of cargo volume with the rear seats folded, accepts 80 kg of dynamic roof load, and has a kerb weight of around 1,500 kg with a GVWR of about 2,300 kg — giving it some 750 kg of payload. That's more than enough for a light conversion.
