Ford unveils the Capri Collection, a limited edition that pays homage to the legendary competition Capris. This version features an exclusive Blue Tribute livery, a prominent rear wing and 21-inch wheels. The Standard Range also gains 60 km of additional range, bringing the total to 444 km WLTP.

"This version transforms our family electric into a must-have object with every detail recalling the heritage of legendary Capris" — Ford France

This time, they've really pulled out the visual stops

Take a bow, Ford. This Capri Collection finally owns what it is. The metallic Blue Tribute paint? Pure homage to those RS Group 2 Capris that tore up circuits in the 70s. And the racing stripes across it? That hits. You can tell someone on the design team actually went through the archives instead of churning out some generic thing.

But here's what jumps out at you — that wing. Not some timid little spoiler — no, a proper full-size wing that says "yeah, I'm a Capri and I own it". With the front and rear skirts and sculpted side sills, the whole silhouette changes. The satin black 21-inch wheels replace the standard 20-inch ones — that normally costs you €1,000 as an option. Here, it's included.

💡 Did you know?
The 70s RS Group 2 Capris pumped out up to 400 horsepower and dominated European circuits with their iconic blue liveries.

The cabin plays the nostalgia card without going overboard

Inside, Ford showed restraint. The upholstery mixes synthetic leather with striped fabric down the center of the seats — it echoes the Select trim but with more character. The Blue Tribute comes back subtly on the seatbelts and sound bar. The dashboard gets speckled black and blue inserts that really work.

You know what? They dodged the "sportwashing" trap. No overdone stitching everywhere or cheap carbon inserts. It stays a comfortable family car, just with a pretty deliberate nod to its roots.

Under the hood, it's got a bit more punch

The Capri Collection inherits the improvements from the new Standard Range. Ford ditched the old battery for a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) unit and optimized the electric motor. Real-world result: 60 km more range to hit 444 km WLTP.

Power climbs to 140 kW (190 hp) with 350 Nm of torque. The 0-100 km/h sprint takes 8.0 seconds. It's not exactly a rocket, but it holds its own in the family SUV electric crowd. And those 60 extra km of range? That's a game-changer day-to-day.

💡 Key figure
60 km of additional range represents a 15% improvement over the previous Standard Range version.

How much will this nostalgia kick cost you?

Ford's still playing coy on the Capri Collection price. But we can do the math. The 21-inch wheels alone run you €1,000 as an option on the Premium. Add the special paint, complete body kit, wing and exclusive interior finishes.

The base Premium starts around €43,000. This Collection will logically hit €47,000 to €50,000 depending on what they pack in. That puts it squarely up against Tesla Model Y and similar premium electric segment rivals.

An attempt at making peace with the purists

This styling offensive comes at the right time for Ford. Their Capri electric, while solid, suffers from the comparison with the original gas car. This Collection is their peace offering to the nostalgics who've been complaining since the announcement.

💡 Technical note
The rear wing and 21-inch wheels will negatively impact the claimed 444 km range, with Ford providing no precise figures.

We've seen the playbook before. Mercedes does it with their AMG Line, BMW with M Sport. Sport sells. Even on electric. Even when it's a two-ton SUV.

When can you order one?

Ford's staying mum on launch timing and production numbers. Usually this kind of limited edition arrives 6 to 12 months after the base version. I'd bet on orders opening spring 2026 for fall deliveries.

Production will likely happen in Cologne, Germany, on the same line as the rest of the Capri range. Ford will need to balance exclusivity against volume to make it work commercially.

This Capri Collection is Ford trying to save face. Making folks accept that a Capri can be a family electric SUV, even with a wing and a pretty livery. It's a bold bet. But at the very least, they're taking it seriously.
