Ford updates its electric Capri with a new LFP battery that increases range to 464 km (up from 381 km previously). The coupe-SUV retains its starting price of €42,400 despite a more powerful motor jumping from 125 to 140 kW. A special Pack Collection edition in Tribute Blue paint pays homage to the racing Capris of the 70s.

"With the new 58 kWh LFP battery and the APP350 motor, we gain 17% additional range without increasing the price" — Ford Europe

The LFP Battery Boosts Range

The major change for this 2026 Capri is hidden under the floor. Ford adopts a 58 kWh net lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, compared to 52 kWh in the old version. This technology, less expensive than conventional lithium-ion batteries, allows for increased energy capacity while keeping prices stable.

The range thus climbs from 381 to 464 km WLTP for the Standard Range version, a gain of 83 km. The Ford Explorer, developed on the same technical platform, benefits from the same treatment with 444 km of range (up from 378 km).

💡 Technical Point
LFP batteries offer a longer lifespan than conventional lithium-ion batteries but are less performant in cold weather.

This evolution comes with a new electric motor. The APP350 replaces the APP310 and develops 140 kW (190 hp) versus 125 kW previously. Torque remains fixed at 350 Nm. Despite these improvements, the charging power remains limited to 135 kW on DC.

Pack Collection: A Nod to the 70s

Ford uses this update to launch a special Pack Collection series that revisits the sporting heritage of the original Capri. The Tribute Blue paint revives the hue of the racing models from the 70s, while a black stripe runs from the hood to the tailgate in reference to the Capri RS 2600.

💡 Did you know?
The original Ford Capri was produced from 1968 to 1986 and nicknamed "the European Mustang" for its accessible sporty style.

The specific equipment includes aerodynamic side skirts, lowered front and rear aprons, and a more prominent spoiler. The partially black 21-inch alloy wheels evoke those of the third-generation Capri.

The interior plays it sober with a dominant Onyx Black theme. Only a few details in Tribute Blue on the soundbar and seat stitching recall the sporting inspiration.

What Competition Does the Capri Face?

In the electric coupe-SUV market, the Capri mainly faces the Tesla Model Y (starting at €44,990) and the Volkswagen ID.5 (€47,565). The 464 km range remains competitive against the 455 km of the Model Y Standard Range or the 520 km of the ID.5 Pro.

The Peugeot e-3008 (starting at €48,990) claims up to 700 km WLTP range, but in a more expensive configuration. Ford's strategy is to offer an attractive price/range ratio at the entry-level.

Ford Capri Standard Range 2026

Prices Remain Stable

Ford maintains the entry price at €42,400 for the Standard Range version, which is €2,600 more than the Explorer (€39,990). This difference is justified by the more exclusive coupe body of the Capri and its slightly more premium positioning.

In the UK, prices start at £37,485. The brand has not yet communicated the prices for the special Pack Collection series, which should logically command a premium.

💡 Key Figure
Ford Europe sold only 15,000 units of the electric Capri in 2025, compared to 89,000 Tesla Model Y.

Availability and Orders

Orders are open now at Ford dealerships. The first deliveries are expected for summer 2026. Production continues at the Cologne factory in Germany, alongside the electric Explorer.

This update comes in a difficult context for Ford in Europe, where electric vehicle sales are struggling to take off. The brand hopes that the improved range and the appeal of the special Pack Collection series will reignite interest in its electric models.

The electric Capri remains faithful to the Ford philosophy: offering accessible, technically advanced vehicles. With *464 km
