Alpine A110 Base Model Axed, Electric Future Uncertain

The entry-level Alpine A110 is permanently leaving the catalog in March 2026, marking the end of the most affordable access to the French sports coupe. This removal, coming a few months before the model's full production stop in June 2026, creates a price gap of around €16,000 to the GTS, putting the combustion A110 out of reach for many enthusiasts.
"In June 2026, the current A110 will stop to make way for the future" — Alpine, official statement
The 252-HP Version Bows Out
Alpine dealers confirm the end of orders for the base 252-horsepower version. This variant, which represented the entry ticket to the coupe's universe, has disappeared from the configurator. Only a few units remain in stock at distributors.
This move marks a turning point. The price gap with the A110 GTS now reaches €16,000, transforming access to the Alpine range into a privilege reserved for comfortable budgets. The Pure version, which allowed you to discover the Alpine DNA starting from €66,900, is giving way to more upscale versions.
A Grand Finale for the Combustion A110
Paradoxically, this announced end is playing out as a triumph. The Alpine A110 has just won the Best Cars award from the German magazine Auto Motor und Sport for the eighth consecutive time with 11.8% of the votes. This victory, achieved against over 480 competing models and 94,911 voters, confirms enthusiasts' attachment to this 1,108 kg sports car.
The final examples of this generation culminate with the A110 R Ultime, limited to 110 units worldwide. This extreme version develops 345 horsepower with a weight/power ratio of 3.2 kg per horsepower, achieving 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds. Equipment includes Öhlins dampers, AP Racing brakes, and a titanium Akrapovič exhaust.
📋 Fiche technique
The Electric Future in Preparation
Alpine is working on the successor with the future electric A110, based on the new Alpine Performance Platform (APP). This dedicated architecture promises to retain the lightweight DNA with an aluminum structure assembled by bonding and riveting.
The future electric sports car will use two separate battery packs to maintain a 40/60 front/rear weight distribution, characteristic of true sports cars. The 800-volt architecture will allow for fast charging, while two rear electric motors will deliver the power.
A Measured Transition Strategy
Philippe Krief, CEO of Alpine, is adopting a pragmatic approach to electrification. Unlike his predecessor's grand international ambitions, he favors consolidation in European markets: "I'm stopping international expansion. Before spending more, we need to show that Alpine is profitable."
This more conservative strategy comes with a surprising revelation. The APP platform remains compatible with a combustion engine, leaving a door open depending on market and regulatory evolution. "Yes, the platform is designed to accommodate a combustion engine," Krief confirms to Autocar.
When Will the New Generation Arrive?
Production of the electric A110 will begin in late 2026.
