The Porsche Cayenne expands its lineup with electric and combustion variants, from a coupe to the brand's largest SUV. Between the new 657 HP S Electric, the future Turbo GT flirting with 1,200 HP, and a mysterious K1 model abandoning electricity for a V8, Porsche is launching a multi-pronged offensive to dominate the premium SUV market.

An Electric Cayenne S to Bridge the Gap

Porsche has just unveiled the Cayenne S Electric at $128,650, slotting between the base model and the mind-boggling Cayenne Turbo Electric with 1,139 HP. This intermediate version develops 536 HP in normal use but climbs to 657 HP with Launch Control. The 0-100 km/h sprint takes 3.6 seconds, placing it exactly between the base model's 4.5 s and the Turbo's 2.4 s.

💡 Key Figure
The Cayenne S Electric can recover 400 kW of power during fast charging, allowing it to go from 10 to 80% battery in less than 16 minutes.

The 113 kWh battery remains identical across the entire electric range, with two charging ports: one for DC on the driver's side, the other for AC on the passenger side. The manufacturer has not yet communicated the range for this S version, but it should be around 600 km.

Spy photographers have caught a prototype of the Cayenne Coupe Turbo GT Electric undergoing winter testing near the Arctic Circle. This ultimate version is expected to exceed 1,100 HP, featuring a fixed wing and refined aerodynamics to tackle race tracks. The design adopts the sloping roofline characteristic of coupes, with an angular rear window.

This electric beast will likely retain the same technical architecture as the "classic" Turbo, but with more radical tuning. The manufacturer has not officially confirmed this model, but the intensive testing suggests a market launch in the coming months.

When Will the Electric Cayenne Coupe Arrive?

Prototypes of the electric Cayenne Coupe are already circulating on test roads. Taking up the design inaugurated by the electric Cayenne sedan, this version adopts rectangular Matrix Design headlights and a front bumper without a traditional grille. The first deliveries are expected in summer 2027.

The K1, A Major Strategic Reversal

Porsche has modified its plans for its future large SUV, initially named K1. Planned as a 100% electric model on the PPE platform, it will finally switch to the Premium Platform Combustion and share its DNA with the future Audi Q9. A decision that highlights the difficulties of the electric market in the premium segment.

💡 Did You Know?
The Porsche K1 will be the brand's first model available with a third row of seats, in 4, 5, or 7-seat configurations.

This large SUV, more imposing than the Cayenne, will receive turbocharged V6 and V8 engines, with plug-in hybrid versions. Its arrival is scheduled for 2028, positioning Porsche against the Mercedes GLS and BMW X7.

Combustion Versions Hold Their Ground

Contrary to initial statements, Porsche is maintaining combustion engines in the Cayenne. Prototypes of the plug-in hybrid Cayenne have been spotted testing, confirming the coexistence of both technologies. The brand is adjusting its strategy in the face of slower-than-expected electric demand.

This dual approach allows Porsche to secure its sales in the American and Middle Eastern markets, where electricity is still struggling to win over premium clientele. The current combustion Cayenne will therefore continue its career, likely with a facelift.
