Xiaomi unveiled its Vision GT at Barcelona's MWC 2026—an all-electric hypercar designed exclusively for Gran Turismo 7 on PlayStation 5. The Chinese tech giant has become the first technology company and first Chinese automaker invited to the prestigious Vision Gran Turismo program.

"Creating a Vision GT is a dream journey for any automotive designer. It gives us the opportunity to rethink hypercar design from a technology company's perspective." — Tianyuan Li, Design Director at Xiaomi EV

A Virtual Hypercar with Radical Proportions

The Xiaomi Vision GT showcases hypercar proportions pushed to their limits: an ultra-advanced cockpit, extraordinarily wide tracks, and surfaces sculpted entirely by aerodynamic principles. The design draws from the aesthetic language already seen on the SU7 and YU7 SUV, but amplified to extremes. The water-drop-shaped cabin features shell-form bucket seats molded directly into the bodywork, reminiscent of endurance racing prototypes from Le Mans.

Aerodynamics serves as the designers' primary obsession. The car boasts a drag coefficient of 0.29 and an aerodynamic efficiency ratio of 4.1—figures that would make conventional hypercars blush. Engineers integrated expansive lateral ducts, a sculptured flat floor, and a massive rear diffuser that replaces the traditional wing. The Active Wake Control system generates air at the vehicle's rear through micro-perforations surrounding the lights, actively pushing turbulence away.

💡 Technical Note
The wheels employ a revolutionary system: hub caps remain stationary via magnets while the wheels rotate freely, reducing drag while channeling air toward the brakes for cooling.

Will It Ever Be Produced?

No. Xiaomi made this abundantly clear: the Vision GT will never see a production version. This concept exists solely within the virtual realm of Gran Turismo 7 and as a design exercise for the MWC showcase. The physical model presented in Barcelona is merely a static mockup, devoid of any mechanical components.

This approach liberates designers from homologation constraints, industrial costs, and safety regulations. The result: a hypercar with lines far too extreme to reproduce for series production—impossibly radical for road regulations.

A Claimed 1,900 Horsepower

Despite its virtual nature, the Vision GT is built on Xiaomi's 900 volt Silicon Carbide platform. The brand cites an output of 1,900 horsepower with all-wheel drive—figures that dwarf current hypercars. For perspective, the production SU7 Ultra already delivers 1,548 horsepower.

The interior embraces a "Sofa Racer" philosophy featuring a butterfly steering wheel inspired by motorsport, a panoramic display integrated into the windshield base, and five-point racing harnesses. The onboard artificial intelligence adapts the vehicle to the driver's mood via multiple sensors.

First Chinese Brand in Gran Turismo

This collaboration marks a historic milestone. Xiaomi becomes the first Chinese automaker and first technology company invited to the Vision Gran Turismo program, joining Mercedes-Benz, Bugatti, and McLaren. The SU7 Ultra had already paved the way in 2025, becoming the first Chinese model playable in Gran Turismo 7.

💡 Did You Know?
Kazunori Yamauchi, Gran Turismo's creator, visited the Xiaomi EV factory in Beijing in May 2025 and personally tested the SU7 Ultra before extending the Vision GT invitation.

This presence in the renowned PlayStation simulator clearly targets younger generations. Xiaomi is betting on the Gran Turismo halo to establish automotive credibility among future buyers—a strategy few automakers dare attempt.

A Strategic Signal for Europe

Beyond the design exercise, the Vision GT represents a strategic signal. Xiaomi confirms its European ambitions with a market launch scheduled for 2027, following its conquest of China with over 600,000 SU7s sold. The virtual hypercar serves as a technological showcase before the commercial offensive.
