Škoda Superb iV 272 ch: Powerful Plug-in Hybrid Arrives

Škoda's Superb is stepping up its game with a new 272 hp plug-in hybrid version. This powertrain replaces the 2.0 TSI at the top of the Czech lineup and will only be offered as a sedan, exclusively in Sportline and Laurin & Klement trim levels.
"This powertrain makes the Superb the most powerful internal combustion model in Škoda's entire catalog" — Škoda
A re-engineered engine block
Under the hood, the new Superb iV combines a 1.5 TSI bumped to 177 hp with an electric motor rated at 116 hp. Together they produce 272 hp and 400 Nm of torque—a gain of 68 hp over the previous 204 hp version.
These figures completely transform the sedan's character. 0 to 100 km/h drops to 7.1 seconds and top speed climbs to 225 km/h. Performance figures that put it in territory previously reserved for more premium powerplants.
The battery keeps a gross capacity of 25.7 kWh, a figure that remains competitive against the typical 12 to 18 kWh seen in this segment. Electric range reaches 130 km under WLTP testing, making long daily commutes in zero-emissions mode realistic.
A premium positioning, unapologetically
Škoda isn't holding back. This powertrain will only be available as a sedan, deliberately excluding the Combi wagon—despite its popularity with European buyers. Only Sportline and Laurin & Klement trims qualify.
This strategy targets buyers ready to move upmarket. Against the Volkswagen Passat eHybrid or Peugeot 508 Hybrid 225, the Superb plays the raw power card and delivers solid bang for your buck.
Charging optimized
On the charging front, the Superb iV accepts up to 50 kW DC current. That means 10 to 80% in 26 minutes at a rapid charger. On AC power, it tops out at 11 kW through its onboard charger.
To handle the extra performance, Škoda has upgraded the braking system. Rear ventilated discs grow to 310 mm diameter and 22 mm thickness, up from 300 x 12 mm on the 204 hp version. Towing capacity jumps to 2,000 kg.
How much does it cost?
French pricing starts at €53,350 in Sportline trim and €55,660 in Laurin & Klement. Positioning that puts it nose-to-nose with Mercedes C-Class and BMW Series 3 hybrids, while keeping a meaningful price advantage.
📋 Fiche technique
A strategic choice for fleets
This Superb iV 272 hp is squarely aimed at professionals and corporate fleets. Its plug-in hybrid status opens doors to meaningful tax advantages, particularly for company vehicles.
With 130 km of electric range, it can cover most daily commutes without burning a drop of petrol. A compelling argument against new urban environmental regulations.
When will it arrive?
Sales began in March 2026 for the first European markets. France is among the priority countries, with deliveries expected starting Q2 2026.
Orders are already open at Škoda dealerships, with estimated delivery times between 4 and 6 months.
