Škoda unveils its electric lineup with three distinct variants: the Epiq 35 at 85 kW, the Epiq 40 at 99 kW, and the Epiq 55 at 155 kW. This 4.17-meter urban electric SUV targets an aggressive price point around €25,000 to compete with the Renault 4 E-Tech and Chinese models.

"Charging times are not specified for the 50 kW version, but with 90 kW, the LFP battery can charge from 10 to 80% in 28 minutes" — Škoda Technical Data

A New Strategy with the MEB+ Platform

The Škoda Epiq introduces the MEB+ platform from the Volkswagen Group, an evolution of the renowned MEB that powers the ID.3 and Enyaq. This new architecture adopts front-wheel drive, abandoning the rear-wheel propulsion typical of the group's electric vehicles. The electric motor sits under the hood, freeing up valuable trunk space.

This technical configuration will be shared with the Volkswagen ID.Polo, Cupra Raval, and ID.Cross. The goal: reduce production costs to offer more affordable electric vehicles. Production will take place at Volkswagen's Spanish plant in Pamplona, alongside its group siblings.

Two Batteries for Three Versions

The Epiq 35 and 40 share a 38.5 kWh LFP battery (37 kWh usable), produced by PowerCo at its German facility in Salzgitter. This lithium iron phosphate technology prioritizes durability and safety. WLTP range reaches 315 km for both versions.

The Epiq 55 stands out with a 55 kWh NMC battery (52 kWh usable). This nickel-manganese-cobalt chemistry offers superior energy density, bringing range to 430 km WLTP. Remarkably, both batteries weigh nearly the same: 291 kg for the LFP and 297 kg for the NMC.

Staggered Power Outputs for Every Need

The entry-level Epiq 35 develops 85 kW (116 hp) with 267 Nm of torque. The 0-100 km/h sprint takes 11 seconds, with a top speed limited to 150 km/h. DC charging maxes out at 50 kW, with no specified charging times.

The Epiq 40 retains the same battery but gains power with 99 kW (135 hp). Acceleration improves to 9.8 seconds for 0-100 km/h. More importantly, fast charging jumps to 90 kW, enabling a 10-80% charge in 28 minutes.

At the top of the range, the Epiq 55 delivers 155 kW (211 hp) and 290 Nm of torque. Performance improves noticeably: 7.4 seconds for 0-100 km/h and 160 km/h top speed. Charging peaks at 133 kW, promising a 10-80% fill in 23 minutes according to Škoda.

What's the Starting Price?

Škoda targets a starting price around €25,000 before incentives for the Epiq 35, though France may not receive this base trim. Real-world pricing would start closer to €26,000. The manufacturer is mirroring its pricing strategy on the current thermal Kamiq.

This price range positions the Epiq against the Renault 5 E-Tech (€24,990) and below the Renault 4 E-Tech (€29,990). The upcoming Kia EV2 should also fall in this bracket, intensifying competition in the affordable electric SUV segment.

When Will It Be Available?

The official presentation of the Škoda Epiq is scheduled for May 2026, with market launch planned for September 2026. Initial deliveries will focus on the Epiq 55, while the 35 and 40 versions arrive in November 2026. The Sportline trim won't debut until February 2027.

Record Trunk Space for Its Class

Despite measuring just 4.17 meters long, the Epiq boasts a 475-liter trunk. This impressive figure exceeds the Elroq (470 l) and significantly outpaces direct competitors. The Renault 4 E-Tech manages only 420 liters, while Stellantis SUVs (Peugeot e-2008, Jeep Avenger) cap out around 380 liters.

This achievement stems from the MEB+ architecture and its front-mounted motor, which liberates rear space normally occupied by the powertrain. Škoda maintains its practical touches: umbrella in the driver's door, handy storage solutions throughout the cabin.
